The world’s oldest hotel according to Guinness, Hoshi Ryokan was established in 718 and has been operated by 46 generations of the same family. It offers public hot-spring baths and traditional meals a 5-minute walk from Osshobe Park. Rooms at Hoshi have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and Japanese-style futon bedding. The wide windows look out on peaceful greenery. All rooms have a satellite TV, green tea and an en suite bathroom with bath. Nata Temple is a 10-minute drive from the ryokan, and Yamanaka Shikki Dentou Sangyo Kaikan Museum is a 20-minute drive away. JR Kaga-Onsen Train Station is a 20-minute drive, and a free shuttle is provided. On-site parking is free. You can relax with a massage, enjoy the sauna or sing karaoke. The hotel has a garden and a pottery gallery. A Japanese breakfast and traditional multi-course Kaiseki dinner are served at the dining room. Drinks and light fare are on offer at Japanese-style pub Koiki and at Garyo's Bar.
Important information
To use the hotel's free shuttle, please make a reservation at the time of booking. Departure from JR Kaga Onsen Station and Awazu Station is every hour from 14:00 until 17:00. Departure from the hotel to the train stations is at 09:00, 9:50, and 10:50 daily. Guests checking in between 14:00 and 18:00 are served a welcome cup of green tea. If you will check in after 18:00, please inform the hotel in advance. Please note that guests with a tattoo may not be permitted to enter public bathing areas and other public facilities.
