Alice Hargreave, the inspiration for Alice in Wonderland, was buried at St Michael's Church in Lyndhurst. It is 3 miles to Minstead, where guests can visit the grave of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Whitemoor House is a 7-minute walk to the village centre with a wide selection of pubs, restaurants and tea shops.
