Edinburgh Metro Youth Hostel is located in the heart of Edinburgh old town and is in Edinburgh University’s Cowgate halls of residence during the summer holidays. Edinburgh Rail Station is just 700 meters from the hostel. The famous Royal Mile, which is popular with tourists and runs through the centre of the old town, is just a 3-minute walk from the hostel. Edinburgh Castle is less than a mile away and the historic Grassmarket, a market square which dates back to the 15th Century, is less than a 10-minute walk. Accommodation at Edinburgh Metro comprises of whole private apartments or single rooms within them. Each apartment is equipped with a shared modern kitchen with an oven and a microwave as well as 1 or 2 shared bathrooms. WiFi is available throughout the property.

Please note that there is no lift at the property, and all rooms are accessed via stairs. A GBP 10 cash deposit per key given out to each guest will apply. SYHA is a charity aiming to inspire all, especially young people, to broaden their horizons, gain knowledge and independence through new experiences of adventure and discovery. In support of this aim, all bookings will include a temporary membership fee per person per night. (Full, existing members of SYHA and HI using these channels are not entitled to a membership refund). From the age of 5 to 15 years, young people must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. When booking for more than 9 persons, different policies and additional supplements will apply. When booking for more than 9 persons, 100 percent of the total amount may be charged any time after booking. Please note the following cancellation charges will apply to your full booking: - More than 8 weeks (57 days or more) 20% of total cost. - 8 – 4 weeks (56- 29 days) 55% of total cost. - 4 – 0 weeks (28 - 0 day) 100% of total cost. Please note that all rooms are single rooms allocated in a shared apartment. This may not suit all families especially with small children and we advise that families ensure they have booked an apartment for sole use. Contact details can be found on your booking confirmation. No stag or hen parties are permitted at any youth hostel. Due to the central location of the Fringe Festival please note some rooms are located over high noise area due to the elevation of the hostel. Depending on location check-in is either 15.00 or 17.00. Please check these times as stated on your reservation before arrival. SYHA does not accept American Express cards as payment or guarantee. Should guests be entitled to a refund or part refund please note that these are processed by SYHA National Office, Stirling. It will take 7 to 10 working days from the date of the property receiving guest's request for the refund to be processed back onto the original card used.
